I just finished a relaxing experience with the Journey On relaxation exercise. I am quite familiar with this technique because I use it occasionally with my clients. Nevertheless, I find this technique a very effective way to relax. The power of suggestion is clear. When the narrator said, "feel the warmth in your arms and hands," I actually felt them. Autogenic training is similar to mental imagery where the latter is focused on peaceful imagery and the former on the body. Frankly, the challenge I face from time to time when I do relaxation techniques is impatience. Oh well, this is exactly the reason why I need this, lol!

ReplyDeleteI had never tried this type of technique before and I was amazed by how well it worked. I did the entire mp3 and afterwards, I felt like I had slept for a week! I am defiinitely going to incorporate this type of method into my daily life and also those of my clients.
Hi I would definetly have to agree that impatience is a problem when doing these techniques. It seems at lot easier to teach others to use these techniques than to actuall use them ourselves. I do however think that aving a cd that could walk you through the process would have to make it easier, so I am very happy that the school supplied us with one
